WhatsApp: the change you have cleared has been confirmed

express.co.uk – WhatsApp is the world's most popular third-party chat client and has remained an ad-free experience since its launch in 2009.

However, this is about to change after Facebook, the social media giant who owns WhatsApp, has announced the ads will come on the messaging platform next year, 2020.

The huge news was revealed at the recent Facebook Marketing Summit in Rotterdam.

Next year, the WhatsApp Status feature will feature ads as users post updates from their friends and family.

Although this has not been confirmed, the image of ads in action suggests that they will be displayed in the same way as those already present in Instagram Stories.

This means that when users click on the clips of others, the ads can be placed in the transition between the stories of the users.

And just like Instagram's promotions, ads on WhatsApp have been shown to fill the entire screen of a device.

On the WhatsApp advertising photo, an arrow at the bottom of the screen suggests users can swipe up to interact with the promotion in one form or another.

WhatsApp Status debuted in 2017 and works remarkably in the same way as Snapchat Stories and Instagram Stories; users can upload photos or videos that will disappear after 24 hours.

It should be noted that Facebook's recent announcement only focused on the implementation of advertisements in this particular mode.

This means that it is not expected that promotions will appear in other segments of the application, such as the chats themselves.

In response to Tweets from Ponteville and Navarre, many WhatsApp users have expressed disappointment with this decision.
