“Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak shocked a number of viewers on Monday by apparently mocking a candidate with a speech barrier.
The longtime game show host tried to keep things clear during Monday’s show as he introduced the contestants. In doing so, Sajak spoke to contestant Chris Brimble. After explaining to the host what he does for a living, it became clear to viewers and the host that Brimble speaks with a slight zest.
Sajak listened to him and even commented on the importance of his job, bringing technology to the elderly. However, the host concluded the brief interview by saying “I see you” instead of “I see”.
As Brimble was merely laughing at the moment, viewers who were upset at Sajak’s apparent mockery of the candidate’s speech barrier took to Twitter to express their outrage.

“Did @patsajak just laugh at one of the contestants ??” a user wrote.
“@patsajak Hey d —- bag, say a cheap shot and laugh at a competitor with a lisp. I teach speech therapy. You’ve been on the air too long. It’s time for you to retire . Your sarcasm is offensive and only funny to idiots like you, ” added a particularly angry viewer.
“I hope you learned by your mistake and stop making fun of those who have a lisp. As a woman who has lived her whole life with a (and my parents put me in speech when I went to school when I was young) I find it horrible that you do that kind of shit, ” a third user wrote.
“As someone your age, who grew up with hearing-impaired cousins, I was taught that we NEVER made fun of their speech. To this day, I wouldn’t even think of doing what you did, so don’t settle for your example. “Great horse about it. You were 100% wrong. Own it and DO BETTER!” another user added.

“@patsajak There’s a clear reason Trebek has always been a better host than you,” another furious viewer wrote.
“@patsajak, you must be a Trumpster fan by making fun of people with speech problems. You’re a tiny speck on my mind! Producers have time to get rid of this overpaid jerk and find someone decent to host the show! You stink of sajak !! ” wrote another.
Representatives for Sajak did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
According to Yahoo Entertainment, Brimble’s game didn’t appear to be bothered in the least by the host’s hit. He went on to win $ 12,250 in cash prizes, but failed to access the bonus puzzle and claim the victory.

At the end of the show, Sajak brought up a moment in his interview with the candidate that had nothing to do with the offensive joke. Brimble asked how long does it take to be married before you are no longer considered a “newlywed”?

“You know I’ve been married for 31 years and still feel like a newlywed,” Sajak told co-host Vana White at the end of the show to applause from the crowd. “It’s going to be a great night at the Sajak house.”
