Apple’s latest software update is touted by the company as one of the biggest software updates of the year.
Here’s what you need to know about when updates will be available, where to download the operating system, and how to do it.
Although Apple has said that Monday, September 20 is the day that users of Apple products can download iOS 15, Apple did not say when worldwide downloads will begin.
However, Apple typically releases updates around 1:00 p.m. EDT, according to Fast Company.
If so, here are the local update times:
- Hawaii: 7:00 a.m.
- Alaska: 9 a.m.
- United States / Canada Pacific (California, Arizona, Vancouver, etc.): 10 a.m.
- Mountain United States / Canada (Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, etc.): 11:00 a.m.
- Central US / Canada (Texas, Missouri, Wisconsin, etc.): 12 p.m.
- United States / Canada East (New York, North Carolina, Florida, Toronto, etc.): 1 p.m.
- Rio de Janeiro; Buenos Aires, Argentina: 3 p.m.
- Iceland: 5 p.m.
- United Kingdom, Portugal: 6 p.m.
- Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Algeria, Angola: 7 p.m.
- Moscow, Finland, Turkey: 8 p.m.
- India: 10:30 p.m.
- China; Singapore; Hong Kong; Perth, Australia: September 21 at 1:00 a.m.
- Japan, South Korea: September 21 at 2:00 a.m.
- Adelaide, Australia: 2:30 a.m. on September 21
- Sydney: 3 a.m. on September 21
- New Zealand: September 21 at 5:00 a.m.
All phones dating back to iPhone 6s will be supported by the latest update.
The best way to download the new operating system is to go to Settings, General, then Software Update. Your Apple product will then tell you if it is ready to upgrade to iOS 15.
When the update is ready, plug in your device or make sure your device has at least 50% charge. Then click on “Install now”.
Older phone users can plug their devices into their laptops with iTunes and install updates from there.
