"When they see us" star Jharrel Jerome was the man of the hour when he won a huge Emmy victory, but he left no doubt about the fact that the projector of the night belonged to the man that & ### He represented.
Jharrel proudly brought the CP5 exonerated Korey Wise with him Sunday night at the Netflix after-party at L.A. Milk Studios. It was a sacred victory for Jharrel, who won the role of Outstanding Main Actor in a limited series.
Jharrel of course played the role of Korey … one of five teenagers wrongly convicted for raping and beating a woman in jogging in 1989. At 16, Korey was the only one Elder of the accused. He served 12 years in prison before the other defendants were exonerated in 2002.
In his thank you speech, 21-year-old Jharrel paid tribute to the "five exonerated" … but it was only the beginning.
Three other exonerates – Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Kevin Richardson – joined the post-party party by hitting her with Jharrel and, of course, with the Emmy statuette.
As you know by now, the Netflix series has again focused on the Central Park Attorney 5 Linda Fairstein and the role it played in wrongful convictions.
The consequences was immediate … of his resignation on several tables to his editor giving him the boot.
