Where to buy a PS5 on launch day and after

[ad_1]

See updates below.

The PlayStation 5 is almost here. Some of us were lucky enough to pre-order the next-gen console from Sony. Many more have not been thanks to high demand and an abundance of scalping robots.

Luckily, you’ll have another chance to get your own PS5 this Thursday, November 12, when the console hits the US, and again next week on the 19th for many other regions, including the UK.

However, I would be remiss if I told you that your chances were very good. Thanks to the realities of the supply chain and the danger posed by COVID-19, walking into a store to buy a PS5 won’t be possible, at least at launch. For now, you’ll need to order a PS5 online and then – at least with physical stores like Target – head to the store to pick up your order.

It’s unclear exactly when each different retailer will start selling the PS5 on launch day, but Looks like 12:01 am ET is when the fun begins, so you’ll want to stay awake late tonight or wake up very early.

Your best bet is to log in early and keep cooling off. Make sure that you are actually logged into the website you are trying to order from and that your payment information is saved. This will save you time and could be the difference between getting a console or running out.

Here are the sites to watch:

Newegg offers several different packs for the PS5, and while they’re obviously more expensive, they come with things like additional controllers, games, and more. They might also be more likely to still be available when the console launches.

Other retailers like GameStop will also be offering bundles. I will update this post as more options come in.

The PS5 costs $ 499 if you want the version with a disc drive and $ 399 for the digital edition. That’s $ 100 in savings for the same machine, minus the player, so unless you’re planning on playing UHD Blu-Rays or buying used games, that’s a good one. case.

If you miss tomorrow, there will be a higher chance of acquiring a PS5 throughout the holiday season, including Black Friday. Popcart is a great tool that you can use to find out when the PS5 is back in stock. You can sign up to be notified when units are back in stock at multiple retailers, giving you a slight edge over the competition.

Best Buy and GameStop have both said they will have PlayStation 5 units in stock for Black Friday, although GameStop is only available in stores.

You can also enter to win a PS5 through Burger King. More details on this here.

Update: Well that ran out quickly

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the same issues gamers faced when pre-ordering the PS5 continued on launch day.

This is in large part due to COVID-19 and Sony’s decision not to sell any units in stores. Having to order them online meant that price abusers could still disrupt the plans of potential buyers.

I’ve heard that some gamers have been lucky enough to purchase bundles like this one at Costco, although it now appears to be sold out.

Meanwhile, scalpers and opportunists are selling PS5 units for $ 1,000 to $ 2,000 or more on eBay. Whatever you do, don’t buy those overpriced consoles. You reward bad behavior and back off for no reason. I’m sure the PS5 is super awesome and all, but not at $ 2000 super. (Mine is still in transit).

I will continue to browse the internet and update this article if I find anything. Remember to pay special attention to @ Wario64 Plus, as I saw tweeting links to the PS5 stock later today, long after it was thought to be fully depleted.

In the meantime, if you want to feel really bad, head over to the PS5 reddit where people post their success stories and photos. At least it looks like quite a few people (real people) got their hands on a PS5 today.

If you want to feel a little better, remember that a lot of the world won’t even be able to get their hands on it until next week.

If you have a PS5, let me know what you think. I’ve read a few stories of people whose consoles died within an hour. This is the worst of luck. ResetEra user Creepy Woody described his experience, and it truly is a horror story:

“My PS5 is dead.

“I turned it on and did the setup, played Astro bot for half an hour and installed a few games (Miles, God of War, Days Gone). Then shut down the system (completely off, not in rest mode) and left for a few hours.

“When I come back, I’ll turn it on via Dualsense. Nothing. OK, try the power button. Nothing. Maybe I had a power outage, check the circuit breaker it’s okay. Everything else in the house is fine.

“Okay, try another outlet, no. Try my figure 8 PS4 Pro power cord, still no. “

See. Things could be worse.
