Xbox Series X Specifications
Microsoft released the official technical specifications for the Xbox Series X on February 24, promising 12 teraflops of graphics processing power and backward compatibility to the original Xbox console.
Here’s a quick look at the technical specifications of the Xbox Series X:
- Custom-designed AMD Zen 2 and RDNA 2 processors
- A “patented form” of variable rate shading (VRS)
- DirectX raytracing (hardware accelerated)
- SSD storage
- HDMI 2.1
- 120 fps support
According to Microsoft, the console’s Velocity architecture should mean we’ll see smaller game files, slower loading times, and other immediate benefits. Microsoft also introduced the Xbox Series X user interface, claiming that its new interface cuts home screen loading times on startup and when returning from a game.
Xbox Series X release date
The only official word we have about the Xbox Series X release date is that it will launch “Holiday 2020”. We had a possible Xbox Series X launch date leak in early August, when the packaging of purported Xbox controllers had a sticker that said “Do not sell or display until November 6”. It’s the closest we’ve made so far to an actual date, but Microsoft still hasn’t confirmed it.
This same leak also revealed a possible Xbox Series S, the second version of the upcoming Xbox hardware.
Xbox Series X game prices
Pricing for next-gen games is a bit complicated. Many Xbox Series X compatible games launching this fall, including Ubisoft’s fall line-up, will retail for $ 60. Others, like NBA 2K21, will cost $ 70. Starting next year and beyond, it’s likely that an MSRP of $ 70 will become more and more common for Xbox Series X titles.
Xbox Series X Games
Thanks to Microsoft’s effort for years for backward compatibility, the Xbox Series X will launch with “thousands of games.” Some of the big launch window titles announced include Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
