The White House called communism a “failed ideology” on Thursday, saying President Biden “stands by” the Cuban people and their “call for freedom.”
Amid the historic protests in the island country, White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed the Biden administration supported the Cuban protesters and their “call for liberation from both the pandemic and decades of repression and economic suffering to which they were subjected by the authoritarian regime of Cuba.

“There is an ongoing review of our own policies, and when we review those policies one of the main factors is to ensure that we are not doing anything to line the pockets of a corrupt and authoritarian regime,” said Psaki said, adding that the White House is closely studying ways to “help in a humanitarian way” to “support the voice of the Cuban people”.
Psaki then called communism a “failed ideology”.
“We certainly think he let the Cuban people down,” Psaki said. “They deserve freedom, they deserve a government that supports them – whether that is by making sure they have medical and health supplies, access to vaccines, or whether they have economic opportunity and prosperity at home. instead – it was a government, an authoritarian, communist regime that suppressed its people and let down the people of Cuba. ”
