White House reporters scoffed after Biden again discussed ice cream with the press: ‘impactful journaling’

President Biden continued to receive friendly press coverage on Sunday when reporters caught him on a Delaware tarmac inquiring about what he was giving up for Lent, which sparked another conversation about ice cream.

A reporter shouted: “Mr. President, what are you giving up for Lent?”

“I gave up all the Lenten candy, you have no idea how hard it is for me,” Biden said as reporters laughed.

“What’s the first candy you can’t wait to have?” the reporter asked a follow-up question.

“Ice cream,” he says.

Other reporters asked tougher questions, as Biden quickly passed investigations into former President Trump possibly visiting the southern border, the coronavirus, gun control, sanctioning Myanmar and when he would appoint a director national cybersecurity campaign in the same battle.

However, the scene did recall the infamous mid-October moment when he was asked what flavor of ice cream he ordered at the height of controversy over his family’s overseas business dealings.

Bloomberg reporter Jennifer Jacobs, who wasn’t the person asking about Lent, tweeted Biden’s response and critics were quick to laugh at the friendly line of questions.

Jacobs did not immediately respond to a request for comment on her criticized tweet when she was not the reporter who asked the question.

In January, press secretary Jen Psaki revealed the Commander-in-Chief’s favorite flavor because Biden is an ice cream enthusiast.

“When I was in Wilmington before the President’s inauguration, I asked my four-year-old niece Suraya – who was very curious what her favorite ice cream was – and her favorite ice cream was chocolate chips,” said Psaki. .
