White House National Security Council (NSC) says it’s simply up to Americans to choose whether to take government options to evacuate Afghanistan, despite numerous reports that Americans and their Afghan allies are going underground to avoid being killed, or tried to leave but were blocked by the taliban.
NSC spokeswoman Emily Horne said in a statement on Friday that the US government had facilitated the departure of 19 US citizens through a chartered flight from Qatar. In addition, two US citizens and 11 lawful permanent residents (LPRs) were rescued by land to a neighboring country.
Horne said: “We continue to work intensively within the US government to facilitate the safe transit of these and other US citizens, LPRs and Afghans who have worked for us and who wish to leave Afghanistan.”

The NSC then said some Americans decide not to evacuate the country and that it is ultimately “up to the Americans who stay if they choose to take them”, referring to the government’s bailout options.
“Today’s departures show how we are giving Americans clear and safe options to leave Afghanistan from different locations. A number of Americans have chosen these options; some have chosen not to, for various reasons. reasons. It is their right. We understand that these are difficult decisions. We will continue to offer proven options for leaving. It is up to the Americans who stay if they choose to make them. “
However, despite repeated promises from the White House that the government will work to evacuate Afghan allies and the still stranded Americans, an Afghan interpreter told Fox News he has not received aid from states. -United and that he had been severely beaten by the Taliban.
The Afghan interpreter, who has assisted the US military for the past decade, said the Taliban beat him at his home Thursday night for alleged ties to the US government.
His family, who have been waiting for years for approval of their Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applications, recently attempted to reach Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport but were stranded by tear gas and posts Taliban control.

After the United States withdrew its last troops from Kabul on August 31, the interpreter and his family left their home and went into hiding to avoid being killed by the Taliban. They are still trying to leave Afghanistan, but have not yet succeeded despite promises from the Biden administration to provide assistance.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday called on the Taliban to stop blocking charter flights containing Americans from Afghanistan. Only a few Qatari-facilitated charter flights containing Americans and allies have been able to leave Kabul since then.
