The White Sox and Lance Lynn agreed to a two-year, $ 38 million extension with a third-year club option that could keep Lynn in Chicago until the 2024 season, the team announced.

Lynn’s acquisition by the White Sox last winter turned out to be a resounding success. On December 8, Chicago sent right-hander Dane Dunning and left-hander Avery Weems to Rangers in exchange for Lynn, who was due to become a free agent after this season. The 34-year-old has, however, found a home in Chicago, where he will now stay at least until the 2023 season.

After earning $ 9.33 million this year in the final season of the three-year $ 30 million deal he signed with Texas before 2019, Lynn will make $ 18.5 million over the course of each of the next two seasons. The White Sox hold an $ 18 million option for 2024 that includes a $ 1 million buyout.

More soon.
