Brooklyn ‘Karen’ Tried to Slam Black Man’s Phone

A Brooklyn “Karen” allegedly assaulted a black couple at a dog park in Williamsburg after telling them to stay in their hood on Saturday night.

The last part of the incident and the assault was taken on video by author Frédéric-Joseph, who posted it on Twitter claiming the attack was from the woman mistaking her dog for another loudly barking dog.

During the video, the woman knocked Joseph down before trying to grab his camera from his hands. She then apparently accused Joseph of doing something to her, but that part of the video is not clearly audible.

Joseph said he and his fiance were walking their dog in the park when the woman started to scream “River, go” to their dog.

At the end of the video, Joseph asked a passer-by to confirm that the Karens had told them to stay under their hood, and the passer-by said “she did.”

There has been no update as to whether or not charges are being laid.

The “Karen” attacks have frequently gone viral on social media in recent years, with many calling for people to be held accountable for racially motivated and sometimes violent interactions.

One of the most revealing events was the May 2020 incident with Amy cooper, a white woman who was filmed making false allegations to police against a black man in Central Park.

Amy has let her dog loose, despite park rules for keeping dogs tethered in the area. Christian Cooper, who was birdwatching at the time, asked Amy to keep her dog on a leash and she refused.

Christian then began to tape Amy, who called the police and told them “there is an African American man threatening my life.”

The video went viral, resulting in Amy losing her job and being accused of falsely reporting an incident, which could have landed her in jail for up to a year. However, the charges were dropped in February after Amy completed therapy involving racial prejudice training.

While “Central Park Karen” has drawn a lot of attention to racism and criminal justice issues – even passing legislation that makes these types of false reports a hate crime – incidents of ” Karen ”still continue in New York and the surrounding areas. nation.

In early September, a video of a “Karen” pushing a young black man off his skateboard because she believed he didn’t live on the property circulated on TikTok.

“Along with white women and black men, white women are fully aware of how society works,” said the Tik Toker @memphisbluu who was pushed. “They try to act subconsciously… but they are fully aware of their privilege. Especially when it comes to situations with black men.

After receiving criticism for not fending off the Brooklyn “Karen, Joseph, who is a New York Times bestselling author, noted that if he had reacted, he could have been shot by the police.
