Whitman Primary School closed due to a virus in the stomach

A Whitman primary school will be closed Friday after the "many cases" of students contracted by the stomach virus in recent days, authorities said.

Conley Elementary School will be "thoroughly cleaned" over the weekend, said Jeffrey Syzmaniak, Superintendent of the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District, in a statement school website.

The Whitman Fire Department reported that the district middle school had also been cleaned up overnight.

"The rest of our schools will be cleaned up this weekend as a precaution," said the department. m said. "The bus company has also been notified to disinfect the buses."

The primary school will be ready to reopen "as usual" on Monday, said Syzmaniak.
