An independent group of vaccine experts has reviewed data from Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine and will release its recommendations for the use of the vaccine next Tuesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday.

In a media advisory next week, the WHO said on Friday evening: “The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization will release its interim recommendations to the WHO on the use of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. (MRNA-1273). The recommendations were approved at the extraordinary SAGE meeting held on January 21 (Thursday). “

Mariangela Simao, WHO Deputy Director-General for Access to Medicines, Vaccines and Pharmaceuticals, speaking at a WHO social media event on Wednesday, noted that SAGE experts had issued recommendations for the use of the Pfizer vaccine in early January. “He is already meeting very soon for another vaccine,” said Simao.
