Who will be the godfathers of Baby Sussex?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle look forward to the arrival of their new family member. Harry and Meghan are expecting a baby in the spring and there are still many unanswered questions about Baby Sussex. What is the sex of the baby? How will he name the baby? And people really want to know who will be the baby sponsors. Here are the likely nominations for godmother and godfather.

Harry and Meghan kept the details of their baby very quiet

The couple might be excited about their new baby, but they do not talk too much about pregnancy in public. Traditionally, the royal family tends to keep things very quiet when it comes to pregnancies. Originally, the palace had announced that Meghan was due to give birth in the spring of 2019, but Meghan had hinted that her baby would be expected by the end of April. However, she never gave an exact date. The couple did not reveal the sex of their baby either. They supposedly want it to be a surprise (and the royal family usually does not know sex before the baby arrives). Harry and Meghan did not tell us what the baby's godparents will be.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are unlikely to be godfathers

One thing is almost certain: William and Kate will not be Baby Sussex sponsors. According to Town & Country magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will already be the aunt and uncle of the newborn. They will probably not have the title of godfather and godmother (this is another royal tradition). In addition, Will and Kate will eventually be the sovereign rulers, so they do not need additional responsibilities to their credit. If Harry and Meghan had chosen royals to be the godfathers of their babies, they probably would not be royals with such close ties to them or such important roles.

People are turning to some of Meghan's best friends

The media have speculated that some of Meghan's closest friends may be candidates for godparents. Serena Williams has just launched Meghan a huge baby shower. Either she tries to get the coveted role, or she already has it. In addition, George and Amal Clooney, both good friends of Meghan and Harry, could also be selected (although George Clooney denied having played such a role in the newborn's life). Meghan has several other friends, including Jessica Mulroney and Priyanka Chopra, who could also play the role of godmother. For Meghan's friends, the role of godfather is not so clear.

Regarding royalty, Princess Eugenie can get the role

An interesting royal tradition says that most of the time,
the royals are not godfathers of other royals. However, this is not always the case.
The godmother of Prince George is Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne. So that's
possible that Harry and Meghan will give the role to someone from the royal
family. It was mentioned that Princess
Eugenie could be the godmother of Baby Sussex. Eugenie and Harry have always
Meghan and Eugenie have recently made a friendship too.
We do not know for the moment who the role will be assigned to, but if it goes to a
Royal, Eugenie is a strong candidate.
