Looking at all the moves made on both lists, it’s pretty obvious that SmackDown came out the winner this year. Roman Reigns suddenly has a few new potential challengers, Charlotte Flair is a great addition, Hit Row has the most potential of all NXT calls and suddenly there’s a thriving tag team division with The Usos, The New Day, The Viking Raiders, Mustafa Ali & Mansoor, Jinder Mahal & Shanky and a potentially reunited The Bar. Meanwhile, Raw has mostly taken over the wrestlers who jumped to SmackDown in last year’s draft, making his current roster eerily familiar at the start of the pandemic era. There are some good choices in there, but these aren’t the times you necessarily want to go back to.

Write down facts.

Bianca, New Day, Rey and Dominik, Jeff Hardy, Apollo Crews, Zelina, Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Sheamus, Kevin Owens and Street Profits have all returned to the brand they were on before the 2020 Draft.

It’s the best act WWE has currently, and by the end of the draft, it remained intact. Sometimes no change is a good change.

Sasha Banks

Between the draft and the first announcements of the Crown jewel pay-per-view, the WWE Women’s Championships are suddenly entangled. Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair both transferred to Raw, leaving Banks as the only one from the upcoming SmackDown Women’s Championship to still be on the blue mark. Unless there are gaps beforehand, that pretty much guarantees she wins the title.

Drew McIntyre

For as tall as he was as a WWE Champion, McIntyre was in serious need of new opponents after his rivalry with Bobby Lashley was dashed. The next obvious step (after his match with Big E at Crown jewI, although it seems pretty obvious how this will end) is for him to start chasing Roman, which could lead to the sequel to what turned out to be an exceptional game last year. Survivor Series.

Strike line

Whether Top Dolla and B-FAB can cope in the ring remains to be seen, but as an act Hit Row has been white-hot since their initial formation and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott is a legitimately tall wrestler. With all the changes going on in NXT 2.0, this was a great time for them to come out.

Alpha Academy

Chad Gable and the newly reformed Otis have been exceptional over the past few months, but they seemed to be trapped in a never-ending feud with The Street Profits. The tag division on Raw isn’t particularly good, but at least it’s a change of scenery and the two could still function as single wrestlers working together “for the Academy.”

Seth Rollin

Despite the mountain of stories that would have been behind it all, WWE never wanted to pull the trigger on a Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins program heel-to-heel. And because of that, Seth had little else to do but terrorize Edge and Cesaro.
