If the company collapses due to an apocalyptic flu virus, Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgard will be perhaps the best at your side.

According to various reports, Goldberg and Skarsgard are committed to joining the cast of The stall, based on the horror novel of the author Stephen King. He is in the process of adapting for a new series of 10 episodes on the CBS All Access streaming service. (Disclosure: CBS is the parent company of CNET.)

In The Stand, almost all of the world's population dies of an armed plague called Captain Trips. The company is collapsing with the help of an ageless, unnatural evil named Randall Flagg (played by Skarsgard) that encourages violence and destruction.

Skarsgard is best known for his roles in the TV series True Blood and Big Little Lies, as well as in the films Mute and Hold the Dark.

Goldberg will play an elderly character named Mother Abagail, who is the leader of the Gentiles. Goldberg made the announcement during his television show, The View, on Wednesday.
