Sometimes you can’t say anything.
After a lengthy rant from “The View” co-host Meghan McCain on Tuesday, Whoopi Goldberg paused for a full three seconds to process, then pulled off a simple but measured response: “OK.”
The sentiment resonated with viewers at home, and a snippet of the moment quickly garnered over 1.6 million views as he filmed Whoopi’s name on Twitter’s trending topic list.
McCain’s comments came during a discussion of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Sunday night interview with Oprah Winfrey, and British TV personality Piers Morgan, which stormed “Good Morning Britain” on Tuesday after being called to question Markle’s revelations about her mental health issues. .
McCain took the conversation in a new direction. She spoke about the American Revolution and how she loves to visit Mount Vernon in Virginia as “the place of origin of our founding fathers”, explaining that she does not want to defend the monarchy because it is “a 100% red-blooded American celebrating freedom anyway I can. She then discussed a generational gap in the UK between how young and old view the monarchy and went on to encourage “all Americans to visit Mount Vernon and see why monarchies are stupid”.
“The American experience is the way forward, and if we have two American women – Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey – who single-handedly complete what George Washington and our revolutionary counterparts did, I’m all for,” a- she concluded.
Goldberg offered an “OK” before moving on to an ad, saying, “Guess we’ll talk more about this when we get back.”
While the show’s panel is notorious for feuding, particularly tense moments between Goldberg and McCain have often bubbled up online in the past.
