A new documentary on Anthony Bourdain has a missing person – his girlfriend Asia Argento.
Morgan Neville’s film, titled “Roadrunner,” focuses on the world-famous chef, who committed suicide in 2018 at age 61 in France. It is the first time that many close to Bourdain discuss his life and death, including his ex-wife Ottavia Busia.
Argento, 45, was dating Bourdain before his death. The actress suffered a backlash after her suicide when footage of her surfaced with a journalist friend, which was taken before Bourdain’s death.
“We debated this for months,” Neville told Vulture recently of the Argento interview.

“I just felt like if I opened that door, I had better be sure that this is what I want,” he told the store. “Because it would’ve been painful for a lot of people, honestly, if I had interviewed her. Neville said he struggled to figure out how to respond to Argento’s vision in the film.

“Again, we played around with edits to try to dig deeper into the story and look at everything she said,” he continued. “And every time I even screened it for people in longer versions, all I got was people wanting to talk more and more about their relationship over the last year or so of. his life. I felt like I was trying to paint a psychological picture of a person’s entire life. And I just didn’t want to be upset by it. So I made the call. People can. to disagree.

On June 25, which would have been Bourdain’s birthday, Argento took to Instagram and shared several photos and videos of the “Parts Unknown” star.
“Celebrating the most amazing man I have ever met,” she wrote. “I miss you every day. Cherish every moment that we have shared in our life together. I feel your presence and your strength. You shine so bright in me. I love you my A. Happy Birthday.
Neville had previously told The Associated Press that it was difficult to tackle the last chapter in Bourdain’s life.
“The way I came to think of it is this: Tony was an ultimate seeker and a seeker,” Neville told point of sale. “But if you’re really still looking and still curious then you can get lost.
