Steve Burns finally explained what really happened when he abruptly left Nick Jr.’s “Blue’s Clues” show in 2002, leaving many viewers upset at the time.

The original host of the 1990s Nickelodeon series appeared in a video posted on Nick Jr.’s Twitter account Tuesday in time for the show’s 25th anniversary this year.

“You remember how when we were younger we used to run and hang out with Blue and find clues and talk to Mr. Salt and panic about the mail and do all the fun stuff. ? Burns said in the video.

“And then one day I was like, ‘Oh, guess what? Great news, I’m leaving. This is my brother Joe, he’s your new best friend, ”and then I got on a bus and left and we haven’t seen each other for a very long time? Can we just talk about it? Great. Because I realize it was a bit abrupt, ”he continued.

Burns, who wore almost the same outfit he dressed in when presenting the show, said he left the show to go to college.

Burns went on to list all of the accomplishments he and the audience had gained over the years.

“I mean, we started with clues and now what is it?” Burns said. “Student loans and jobs and families? And some of them were pretty tough, you know? I know you know.”

Believe it or not, the newest host of “Blue’s Clues” has a connection to New Jersey.

Josh Dela Cruz, who grew up in Bergen County, landed the role of host of “Blue’s Clues & You,” the 2019 cover of the hit series.

Dela Cruz also appeared in Disney’s “Aladdin” on Broadway before Burns selected him for the role in “Blue’s Clues”.
