Lauryn Hill finally reveals to fans why she never released another musical work after the success of her first solo album, Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation, in 1998.

“What’s crazy is that nobody from my label ever called me and asked me, ‘How can we help you make another album?’ Never never. Did I ever say? Never, ”said the eight-time Grammy winner.
She also explained that she believes the authenticity behind her art will be at stake in the future with a record company fighting her creativity.
“People had included me in their own accounts of their success with my album and if that contradicted my experience, I was seen as an enemy,” she continued. “After Miseducation, there were dozens of sprawling obstructionists, politics, repressive agendas, unrealistic expectations and saboteurs everywhere. “

Recognizing that the album remains her only solo work (Hill also recorded and performed alongside the Fugees from 1992 to 1997), she said she understood the impact and influence the album continues to have on this day.
“I challenged the norm and introduced a new standard,” the singer continued. “I believe Miseducation does this and I believe I still do. [Myself and my album] defy convention when convention is questionable. “
Hill and the Education won five Grammys at the 1999 awards ceremony, including honors for Best New Artist, Album of the Year, and Best R&B Album.
