Why Lori Loughlin pleaded not guilty in college swindle – and why his friends are worried

Nearly two weeks after being charged by federal prosecutors, actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded not guilty in the college confession fraud scandal. And the couple's friends – for all those who care about rich people – are "extremely worried" for both, reports ET.

Rumor has it that "Loughlin still believes that she and her husband may not be behind bars after all," Elle said.

They do not feel "ill-intentioned". They hope they will receive a slap on the fingers, sources said.

The couple – the parents of two girls – is accused of paying half a million dollars in bribes for their daughters to be admitted to the University of Southern California (USC) as as rookies from university rowing, although none of them is part of a rowing team.

The evidence against the couple includes bank records, emails and phone calls.

The couple's maximum jail sentence would be 40 years for several charges – including the maximum penalty for money laundering charges that had been laid last week in addition to previous charges.

The minimum time that Loughlin and Giannulli could spend behind bars is four years and nine months, noted TMZ Monday.

Be that as it may, the couple may take a very big risk in fighting against them.
