For the second year in a row, the Mets decided to use their first-round pick on one of the top high school hitters in the MLB draft.
Monday, selected Mets Brett Baty out of Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, with the 12th overall pick, a selection that shocked Baty himself.
But the Mets had good reason to choose the 19-year-old third baseman.
