Why Princess Diana said she feared that Prince Charles would hurt him physically

Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer started their court when she was 19 and he was 32. At that age, the future king was under tremendous pressure to find a wife and start a family. Diana was considered an appropriate choice for the presumptive heir, and Charles's father, Prince Philip, told him to "propose or release him." Charles chose the first and married the woman whom he had met only twelve times in July. 29, 1981.

Perhaps the marriage had been rushed meant that they were doomed from the start, but they remained in their unhappy union until their final separation in 1992. After their separation, the princess apparently thought that Charles was going to hurt him.

This is what Diana would have written in a letter a few months after her separation from the Prince of Wales.

What Diana reportedly wrote about Prince Charles hurting him

In 2003, Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, said in his book: Royal Duty, the princess sent her a message and told her that he should keep it "just in case." According to Burrell's letter, Diana feared for her safety and feared that Charles would love me to kill him so that he can remarry.

"This particular phase of my life is the most dangerous, my husband is considering" an accident "in my car, a brake failure and a serious head injury," she said.

The handwritten letter that appeared to be Diana's was shown during the judicial inquiry at the Royal Court of Justice.

Lucia Flecha da Lima, one of Diana's confidants, does not believe that Charles had planned an accident to inflict bodily harm on the mother of his two children. She does not believe either that the princess has ever been afraid for her life.

"I still do not believe it," she said. "Paul Burrell was perfectly capable of imitating the writing of Princess Diana. I do not think she feared for her life, especially Prince Charles, the future king of [the] country."

The princess was involved in a terrible accident, as the letter says

Four years after Burrell had said that Diana had given him this letter, she had died as a result of a car accident.

The paparazzi pursued the princess as she and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, their chauffeur Henri Paul and Diana's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, left the Ritz Hotel in Paris.

Their vehicle was traveling at high speed trying to escape the photographers. The car finally crashed against a pillar in a tunnel under the bridge of Alma.

Paul and Fayed were killed on the spot, but Diana was still alive and suffering multiple injuries, including a sectioned pulmonary vein. She was transported to Pitie Salpetriere Hospital where she was pronounced dead a few hours later on August 31, 1997. Rees-Jones survived the accident.

The conspiracy theories tormented for years that Charles or other royals could have been behind the accident. However, it has never been proven that the prince or anyone related to his family had any connection with what happened to his ex-wife.
