The protocol for having a baby is the same in most families. The new mother and husband huddle in the hospital room during delivery, while the extended family waits outside, in the main area, for the birth of the baby to be announced.

But in a royal family, everything is different. The queen has priority over everyone. So, if she wanted to, she could be in the room with her step-granddaughter during childbirth.

But as the expiry date of Meghan Markle gets closer, we learn that the queen will probably not even meet the new royal for a while.

When will the queen meet baby Sussex?

Most grandmothers and great-grandmothers are thrilled to be able to meet the latest additions to their families. But the queen would have decided to wait a moment before going to see Prince Harry's first child.

So, why is the queen waiting to meet the long-awaited baby? Is she mad at Markle? Is not she excited?

The answer to both questions is no. Dickie Arbiter, the former Queen's press officer, told Us Weekly that the monarch "would probably wait a bit before meeting the baby" so as not to "create disruption" during his visit to the hospital.

According to The Independent, at the birth of Prince George, William contacted the Queen before even informing Middleton's family.

Once the queen is informed, the rest of the world will be informed by the press.

The news of the birth will also be placed on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. The boxed bulletin will show the baby's gender and information about the baby's and mother's well-being.

The baby's name will probably be announced a few days after birth, as has been done with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
