Why the Packers are going to beat the Broncos and why they could not

After two weeks of the regular season, the Green Bay Packers are in an ideal position. 2-0 with victories over the Vikings and Bears is the best possible place for the Packers.

Now, with another very win-win game at home, Green Bay needs to keep up the momentum and will have to do it against a hungry Broncos team that is 0-2.

Denver struggled to score with Joe Flacco as a starting quarterback and the defense led by trainer Bears, Bears defense co-ordinator Vic Fangio, was not good enough to make up for that.

Strange as it may seem, the Packers are better known for their defense this season than the offensive led by MVP twin Aaron Rodgers.

In two games, the Packers are second in points and 11th in yards. Most importantly, they lead the NFL with five to go.

The fact that the quarterbacks represent just over 50% of the passes, with only one touchdown and three choices against Green Bay, is also a promising sign.

Green Bay is also starting a series of home games that could help the Packers get into a strong playoff position early.

Yet each week in the NFL is a new challenge and, for the Broncos, here's why Green Bay could win and why it could lose.

Why Green Bay will win

At the risk of simplifying things, the Packers will win this game because they have the best quarterback. The defenses are good and Fangio has tormented Rodgers over the years.

In addition to that, there are still some problems to solve. Rodgers is still developing a relationship with his underdogs and the offense as a whole continues to learn and grow.

Yet the first half against Minnesota last week looked like a vintage Packers and, even though the rest of the match was a failure, it gave reason to hope. He also showed that things are starting to click.

But unlike previous seasons, the defense has been able to win a victory, two weeks in a row now.

With a secondary team starting to look like an elite and a pass rush that is damn good too, Green Bay is a real defense. Kenny Clark and Blake Martinez also help playmakers at all levels.

Denver has a pair of solid receivers to Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton. However, with Flacco in the pocket, he should not have much time to open.

I expect a ton of pressure on Flacco throughout the match and if the Packers can keep control of the current game, including Royce Freeman, the defense should have a field day.

In the end, if the Broncos do not rush 100 yards or more, it's hard to see them score more than 14-17 points.

And although the offensive was not spectacular, the offensive line could be even better this week with Elgton Jenkins starting guard for Lane Taylor. David Bakhtiari is in good health and running has worked with Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams.

The offensive will not dominate, but it can score enough to win and at home, 20-24 points should be more than feasible.

Why Green Bay could lose

The Packers could lose this match if they do not care about the ball and the Broncos find the way to win the turn battle.

The formula for Denver is to make this case a poorly performing ball control case. The Broncos run was not great, but if Philip Lindsay and Freeman can get involved, they can open the assists for Flacco.

Miller is still one of the best defensemen in the NFL and he is able to play big or two. If the Broncos can hang out, a shoulder bag or something different could make a difference.

Flacco is no longer the same guy he was, however, he still knows how to handle a match. He knows how not to lose early, even if he sometimes forgets.

As long as the bad Joe does not show up, Denver can stay four quarters. But if Flacco is under pressure and returns it more than once, the Packers should win.

Rodgers does not even have to be awesome. He must just play a clean game and create an explosive game or two.

As crazy as it may seem, if Rodgers and the Packers reach 20 points, they should be 3-0.
