The final minor details are being finalized to finalize the Deontay Wilder-Luis Ortiz return match contracts.

Several sources announced Friday at BoxingScene.com that these problems would be corrected soon and that an official announcement was imminent. Wilder-Ortiz II will probably be announced next week, which would give more than two months to all those involved in this pay-per-view event to promote it.

Wilder will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Ortiz on Nov. 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, as previously announced BoxingScene.com. Showtime is expected to distribute Wilder-Ortiz's rematch as the main event of a four-fight television broadcast.

The official announcement will be a mere formality for a fight which, for all intents and purposes, is considered a deal accomplished for more than a month.

Al Haymon, who advises Wilder and Ortiz, saw FOX Sports as the Premier Boxing Champions broadcast partner for the Wilder-Ortiz rematch. He finally chose Showtime, who televised each of Wilder's last four bouts either live on this premium cable channel or via pay-per-view.

FOX broadcast back-to-back fights against Wilder – the technical knockouts of Chris Arreola and Gerald Washington – in July 2016 and February 2017. NBC had previously shown the 11thstoppage of Johann Duhaupas in September 2015.

Since its boxing budget in 2019, Showtime has made a significant commitment to broadcast Wilder's last fight live on the network. Wilder delivered a devastating knockout in the mandatory first round of mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale in his May 18 fight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Fourteen months earlier, Wilder had become the first fighter to beat Ortiz in a fight at the same place. The long-time champion dropped Ortiz in the fifth round, resisted serious problems at the end of the seventh round and again knocked out Ortiz twice more at 10th turn, when their 12 rounds were stopped.

Showtime also televised Wilder-Ortiz in March 2018.

If Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KO) manages to overtake Ortiz (31-1, 26 KOs, 2 NC) a second time, the player from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is contracted to a new revenge with Tyson Fury (28-0 -1, 20 KOs). Wilder and Fury fought for a controversial draw on December 1 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The return match of Wilder-Fury could take place as of February 22 if Wilder won on Ortiz and England Fury beat the Swedish Otto Wallin (20-0, 13 KOs, 1 NC) on September 14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
