Apple's iPhone XR is available at a reduced price in India
Apple's revenue (AAPL) from the Greater China region fell more than 26% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2019 (quarter ended December 2018). Apple responded by cutting prices on the latest flagship iPhone in China to boost demand.
Meanwhile, the tech giant is struggling to gain significant market capitalization in India, a fast-growing smartphone market. A recent report from Bloomberg revealed that Apple's main supplier, Foxconn, could soon start testing iPhone production in India to avoid huge prices, which would drive down prices in India. Apple has just cut prices on its cheaper flagship phone, the iPhone XR, available in the US priced at $ 749, about 25%, as originally announced by the Economic time. Apple has also put huge ads in major Indian newspapers on Friday, April 5th.

Will the price reduction help Apple to win more Indian users?
the Economic time reported that the base model of the iPhone XR will now be available at 59,900 rupees (or about $ 860), up from 76,900 rupees (or about $ 1,115) earlier. Apple could also offer similar discounts on other models in India, where iPhone prices are much higher because of high import duties on luxury goods, rupee depreciation and lack of partnerships with operators, resulting in lower prices in the United States.
The cut could prompt some Indians to buy the iPhone XR at discounted prices. However, Apple's woes in India are deeper because most people are poor and are put off by the high prices of iPhones. Indians preferred cheaper smartphones made by Chinese suppliers such as Xiaomi (XIACF), Vivo and Oppo.
