- OnePlus CEO Pete Lau shed some light on the situation of the integrated charger for the OnePlus 9 series.
- The executive revealed that the new phones will indeed carry a charger in the box.
When Apple first ditched the inbuilt charger with the iPhone 12, Android OEMs like Samsung and Xiaomi scoffed at the company for doing so. We all know what happened next. Samsung and Xiaomi have both removed the charger from the packaging of their respective flagships. While the latter has always made the accessory optional, the South Korean brand seems to be going all the way in the no-charger approach for its phones. This begs the question – what will OnePlus do? Will it make a charger with the OnePlus 9 series of phones? Fortunately, we have an answer.
Responding to a comment on an official forum post teasing the OnePlus 9 series, CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the new phones will indeed come with a charger inside the box.
OnePlus typically bundles a Warp Charger with its flagship phones. The OnePlus 8T comes with a 65W charging adapter, and the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro should get the same as well.
With OnePlus’ flagships getting more expensive year on year, it might be a relief for many to know that they won’t have to shell out more for a fast wired charger this time around.
The question is, do built-in chargers really make a big difference? Is this something that will affect your buying decision when it comes to the new OnePlus flagships? Take our poll below and let us know what you think in the comments section.
