William Shatner is mentally preparing for his next trip to space with Blue Origin.
The “Star Trek” actor, 90, travels aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin New Shepard NS-18 on October 12 and told members of the public during a New York Comic Con panel on Thursday that he was terrified.
“I am terrified,” he confirmed. “I’m Captain Kirk, and I’m terrified of going to space. You know, I’m not really terrified. Yes, I am. It comes and goes like a summer cold.”
“You have three minutes to look into the abscess of space and the beauty of this oasis of Earth, and I intended to press my nose against the window, you know? And my only hope was that I wouldn’t see anyone else looking back, ”Shatner joked.

The Emmy winner explained that he was approached for a trip to space over a year ago. Bezos’ aerospace company Blue Origin would have liked the idea of sending Captain James T. Kirk on a suborbital flight.

On Monday, Blue Origin confirmed that Shatner will become the oldest person to travel in space. He will be joined by Audrey Powers, New Shepard’s vice president of mission and flight operations.
“I’ve been hearing about space for a long time now,” Shatner said in a statement. “I take this opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”

Complete the crew are former NASA engineer and co-founder of Planet Labs, Dr Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries, co-founder of Medidata and vice president of life sciences and healthcare of Dassault Systèmes.
The October trip comes after Blue Origin successfully completed its first crewed suborbital space flight in July, which flew 66.5 miles above Earth. Bezos was joined on the flight by his brother Mark, 82-year-old aerospace pioneer Wally Funk, and Oliver Daemen, 18, who replaced a winner of the mystery auction that paid $ 28 million for a seat.
The approximately 11-minute flight takeoff on October 12 is currently scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time from Launch Site 1 in West Texas.

In addition to playing Captain Kirk on television, Shatner starred in seven “Star Trek” movies, of which he directed one. He is also currently the host and executive producer of History Channel’s “The UnXplained”., ” an hour-long documentary series that explores the world’s most fascinating, bizarre and inexplicable mysteries.
