You don’t need one of the best Chromebooks to enjoy Android apps on your desktop, thanks to Windows “Your phone” application. Previously it only allowed you to mirror one Android app at any one time, but things have changed
Your phone now allows you to open multiple Android apps on your Windows 10 PC, but there’s a catch. Unfortunately, again, the multi-app experience is exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices. So those of you with other Android phones will have to skip this upgrade.
Being able to use Android apps on a Windows PC was good in itself, but being able to use multiple apps at the same time takes multitasking to the next level. If there are apps that you tend to use quite frequently, it will save you from having to stop and meddle with your phone at different times of the day.
Unfortunately, this feature is not widely available. Anyone who doesn’t rock a Samsung Galaxy phone won’t be able to use the Android apps on their PC. And those with something older (or less powerful) than the Galaxy Note 10 will be limited to one app at a time.
Sharing apps from your phone was first announced in September, and comments from Microsoft suggested it was “exploring” the possibility of bringing the feature to other Android phones. Unfortunately, he had no information to share at the time, and sounds of things that haven’t changed.
With the diversity of Android hardware, it’s obvious that getting something like this to work on every device is no easy feat. As boring as it may be for those with different phones, Samsung Galaxy devices are among the most popular Android phones. So it’s no surprise that Microsoft is starting app sharing there.
If you want to try out the “multi-app experience” on your PC, your first task is to make sure your Samsung phone is eligible. Next you will need to make sure your PC has Windows 10 May 2020 Update (or later), Android 11.0, version 1.20102.132 from the Your phone app, Link to Windows app version 1.20102.133.0 and Galaxy Store Link to Windows Service app version 2.1.05.2 or higher.
That’s a lot, but it’s a whole new feature that you can take advantage of, so you’re going to need the newest and best software to make it happen. Chances are, most of these things are already updating automatically anyway.
