Winter storm in Texas: Here’s where you can get free food and water on Sunday in the Houston area

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – As the Houston area continues to contend with the resumption of the winter storm, several groups have organized free water or food events throughout the city.

The list below will be updated with new information as we get it.

Sunday February 21

Houston

HISD / Houston Food Bank food – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – NRG Stadium
The Montrose Center – water and non-perishable food – 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – 401 rue Branard
Butler stadium – water – 2 p.m. 13755 S. Main St.
Molina Healthcare of Texas / Restaurant Viet Alley – food – 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – 11210 boul. Bellaire # 133.
Burn the barbecue – food – 8307, rue De Priest.
Alief Crump Stadium – food – 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – 12321 High Star Dr.

Harris County

Leonel Castillo Community Center – food – 10am – 2101 South St.
Harris Co. Pct 6 – Food and Water – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – 5900 Canal St.
Bayland Park – water – 12 noon – 6400 Bissonnet St.
Archbishop Fiorenza Park – water – 12 p.m. – 4025 Eldridge Pkwy.

Bear Creek Pioneer Park – water – 12 p.m. – 3535 War Memorial Dr.
Arthur story park – water – 12 p.m. – 7400 W Sam Houston Pkwy S.
Weekly park – water – 12 h 8440, chemin Greenhouse. Cypress

Fort Bend County

Richmond – food – 11:30 am to 2:30 pm – 5400 Pointe West Cir.
Missouri City – water pitcher filling – 12 p.m. – 4713 Highway 6

The Houston Food Bank offers home delivery to the most vulnerable in need of immediate assistance. Households will receive an emergency box delivered to their homes and water if they are:

  • People with Disabilities

Their call center takes reservations until Monday, February 22 at 832-369-9390.

If you are disabled or do not have reliable transportation to get to the aquatic sites, you can sign up to have it delivered through CrowdSource Rescue.

Monday February 22

Houston

  • HISD Food Distribution / Houston Food Bank – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center – 4400 W. 18th St.

Due to water issues, Houston is expected to remain on a boil water advisory until Monday, February 22. But many residents of other cities are suffering, lacking water to boil.
