ST. LOUIS – A storm that dropped several inches of snow in the central United States over the weekend spreads to the northeast, where it could disrupt Monday morning's commute.
Sunday morning, up to 15 inches of snow had fallen in parts of the far west of Kansas. But most of the Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois areas that were on the passing storm had accumulated only a few inches of snow. Forecasters warn that extremely cold temperatures will follow the storm.
The Missouri Department of Transportation advised people to stay off the road, if possible Sunday.
The National Weather Service has announced that wind chills could fall under the negative 20 Monday in eastern Nebraska.
The snow was expected to move into the Ohio Valley and the central Atlantic states later on Sunday before spreading into the rest of the northeast.
