VERONA, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Brewing Company announced Sunday morning the acquisition of the Lake Louie Brewery.

The Arena-based brewery will remain active to develop new brands and work on special projects for Wisconsin Brewing, according to a press release.

The company's goal is to provide jobs for all Lake Louie employees, including Lake Louie's current owner, Tom Porter.

Carl Nolen, President and CEO of the Wisconsin Brewing Company, said this collaboration would allow Lake Louie to expand and strengthen its brand.

"After 20 good years, we maximized our brewery. The option was to borrow a ton of money and expand or merge with a group of people I know and have respected for decades, "Porter said.

According to the press release, this is the first acquisition between two traditional breweries since Miller acquired Leinenkugel in 1988.

The acquisition is expected to be finalized by July 1st.
