Mark Jefferson, executive director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, told FOX 6 that there seemed to be something odd about Biden planning his visit on an otherwise important day for a Democratic governor.
“It is telling that President Biden has decided to counter-program a governor of his own party,” Jefferson said. “Either the White House is not communicating with the Democratic governors, or the Democrats have realized that it is in Governor Evers’ best interests that no one is watching him reveal his budget.”
Milwaukee was supposed to host the Democratic National Convention last summer – until the coronavirus pandemic resulted in a change of plans. Instead, much of the convention took place online, with a few key speeches delivered in Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Del.
Mayor Tom Barrett of Milwaukee said CNN and the theater had exchanged ideas on how to make the president’s appearance follow coronavirus guidelines.
“He wants to come to the heart of America, and we’re delighted he chose Milwaukee and we’re delighted to have him here,” Barrett said.
Since taking office on Jan.20, Biden had already left Washington last weekend, traveling by plane to his home state of Delaware.

Biden returned home “to see my grandchildren and spend time with Jill to collect the rest of the things we need to move from our house to the other house,” he told reporters, referring to First Lady Jill Biden and their recent move to the White House, according to the New York Times.
The trip took place despite advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for Americans to avoid travel to help reduce the risk of the coronavirus spreading.
