Federal authorities are assisting Wisconsin police with their investigation of a hospital worker who was fired for deliberately wasting 500 doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

An employee at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton admitted to intentionally removing 57 vials of Moderna vaccine from refrigeration earlier this week.

In a statement released Wednesday night, Grafton Police said the FBI and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were “actively” investigating the case alongside the department.

Attorney Aurora Health previously told Fox News in a statement that he was led to believe the incident was an accident. However, the employee later “admitted to intentionally removing the vaccine from the refrigeration.”

Aurora said she fired the employee and referred the case to authorities, who were informed on Wednesday evening.
