A Wisconsin man was arrested this week on indictment of animal cruelty after the police found four dead cows on his farm and other emaciated animals whose bones protruded from their flanks.
Joshua Litza, 19, was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of failing to intentionally provide food to animals and four counts of omission. to dispose of an animal carcass after officials said they neglected his father's cattle that he was supposed to tend to take, reported the Wausau Daily Herald.
According to a criminal complaint obtained on the website, a deputy from the Marathon County Sheriff responded to a call from cattle blocking a roadway in the town of Norrie. Once there, the officer would have noticed that some of the cows were so thin that their bones were protruding.
He also discovered four carcasses of dead cows.
The authorities finally discovered that the animals belonged to Litza, who was supposed to take care of them during the absence of his father, 57 year old John Litza.

The complaint indicated that Litza had told police that he had fed the cows, but a farm survey showed "no recent sign of feeding or watering".
Litza is scheduled to appear in court on April 8 and could serve up to seven and a half years in jail when he is convicted. The Wausau Daily Herald reported that Litza had been charged in September with three counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of exposing a child to prejudicial material.
