MADISON, Wisconsin – Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook is leaving the program and accessing the NCAA transfer portal.

"Alex informed us of his decision to leave the team earlier in the day," said head coach Paul Chryst. "He has contributed to many of our recent successes and we want to thank him for all he has done for our program, and we wish him the best of luck."

Hornibrook will have a remaining eligibility season. This season, the native of West Chester, Pensylvania, was slowed by the effects of a concussion he suffered against Illinois. He missed three games in the regular season and he did not play in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Hornibrook has been 6-3 in nine starts this season and ends his career in Wisconsin with a 26-6 record. Its .813 percentage is the best of all quarters of the program's history. He started nine games as a junior last season, totaling 1,532 yards and 13 touchdowns. He tied for the third time ever in Wisconsin in touchdown passes (47), fourth in completion percentage (60.5%) and fifth in passing yards (5,438).
