Jim harbaugh said ahead of Saturday’s game against northern Illinois that he had noticed a boost in his team’s progress this season, sort of a rejuvenated squad after a 2-0 start. The Wolverines showed no sign of slacking off against a weaker opponent and crushed the Huskies, 63-10, in front of a bustling crowd in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Michigan scored in its first five possessions of the first half – evidenced by an 87-yard touchdown from Cornelius Johnson – against the Huskies to take a sizable lead into the locker room break. Entering the game, Michigan had a back-to-back 300-yard rushing performance and again came out on the ground with nearly 200 in the first half.
In the first half, Cade mcnamara, Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins all rushed for one-yard touchdowns and Haskins added another before intermission and the rout started at 35-3.
The 25th-seeded Wolverines have gone 3-0 this season before hosting Rutgers next week to open the Big Ten Conference game.
