Black dog owner says white woman at Brooklyn dog park threatened to call cops on him and his fiancee – allegedly telling them to “stay in their hood” after mistaking their dog for a loud bark .
Frederick Joseph said the woman had confronted him and his fiancee as they left a dog run in McCarren Park in Williamsburg.
“At the Brooklyn dog park with my fiance and this white woman threatened to call the police and told us to ‘stay in our hood’ because she mistook our dog for another dog who barked loudly,” Joseph wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
“So I started recording and she tried to slap my hand,” he added.
Joseph shared images of the woman trying to hit her phone and then give her the finger.
“Did you just leave the dog park to tell us to stay in our hood?” Joseph could then be heard saying.
“Oh my god, did you just tell me that?” St, ”the woman said, clutching her hand to her chest.
Joseph then turned to another man nearby and asked him, “I’m sorry you’re here and watched this whole thing. Didn’t she just stay here and tell us to stay in our neighborhood? “
“She did,” replied the man.
The woman then apparently became “surprised” that the viewer supported them and took off, Joseph said.
It is not known exactly what happened before the video was recorded.
The NYPD said it was “reviewing the incident” but would not confirm whether a report had been filed.
The footage, which received more than 100,000 views, sparked outrage from others on social media who criticized the woman for acting as the “victim.”
“I tried to claim the victim until the other white person confirmed it. My white compatriots speak and express themselves ”, wrote a Twitter user.
“What’s scary about it is you can see the exact second she makes the decision to start lying and pretend she’s under attack. She squeezes her chest and says, ‘Oh my god did you just tell me that?’ The violence of that and the ease with which she got there is terrifying ”, another added.
