A woman was arrested Saturday morning at an inaugural checkpoint for impersonating a law enforcement officer and fleeing from the police, officials said.
Linda Magovern, 63, was arrested near Union Station after saying she was an officer and “part of the presidential cabinet,” and presented a military police challenge coin, according to a police report from DC.

Magovern approached the Columbus Circle and First Street NE groundbreaking perimeter in a vehicle around 8:45 a.m., police said.
It “featured a round metallic object later identified as a military police challenge coin,” the police report said. Medallions are used by law enforcement and members of the military to recognize achievement.
Police said Magovern then said she was an officer and a member of the presidential cabinet.
An officer ordered Magovern to park the vehicle and turn it off. She obeyed but went ahead after an officer asked for her permit.
Officers repeatedly ordered Magovern to stop the vehicle, but she headed north on Columbus Circle, police said. She was arrested nearby, outside Union Station.
Magovern was arrested and charged with impersonation of a law enforcement officer, non-obedience and flight from a law enforcement officer. It was not immediately clear if she had a lawyer.
She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
