Woman arrested for assaulting Uber driver after refusing to wear a mask

A woman who was filmed harassing and coughing a California Uber driver has been arrested, while another woman plans to turn herself over to police, authorities said.

Las Vegas police caught Malaysia King, 24, who faces charges of assault and assault, conspiracy, and violation of the health and safety code for attacking the driver of Uber Subhakar Khadka, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Khadka recorded the incident which shows King – who is sitting in the back dressed in red – and another woman, identified by cops as Arna Kimiai, 24, coughing and shouting profanity after refusing to wear masks facial.

Kimiai has yet to be arrested, but her lawyers say she plans to surrender soon.

“We are happy to hear that Ms. Kimiai intends to do the right thing and go to the nearest law enforcement agency, and we hope that will happen soon,” said the Lieutenant Tracy McCray in a statement.

β€œThe behavior captured on video during this incident showed a ruthless disregard for the safety and well-being of an essential service worker amid a deadly pandemic. We take this conduct very seriously in San Francisco and are committed to ensuring that justice is done in this matter, ”McCray continued.

The incident occurred after Khadka picked up Kimiai, King and another woman in San Francisco at around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.

Khadka asked one of the women to put on a mask but she refused, so he decided to cancel the ride.

An enraged Kimiai can then be seen in the video shouting at the driver, “Fk masks!”

At one point, Kimiai grabs Khadka’s phone in the center dash area, then violently rips off her face mask, according to footage.

Cops say the women also sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray in Khadka’s car.

Uber and Lyft have banned Kimiai following the incident.
