Woman beaten to death with electric scooter, police say

Gabriel Luquin, a friend of the deceased woman, told CNN's affiliate, KTLA5, that Manjarrez was eating with friends who live on the street where she was attacked. She was returning home when the attack occurred.

Linda Lorena Lopez Manjarrez, her daughter, said that her mother was "the best" and that she always supported her family. "My mother was always happy and supported her family, she had no problems with anyone," Lopez Manjarrez said.

"It's such a terrible loss, I would like it not to be true."

Bird said in a statement that the company was cooperating with the criminal investigation.

An online fundraiser organized by the Manjarrez family for funeral expenses raised more than $ 2,000.
