Woman dies after losing control of vehicle and colliding with body of water in southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida –A driver in South Florida took a crash course before his car plunged into a body of water in southwest Miami-Dade County.

The driver did not make it out alive.

Authorities said the driver was alone when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and entered the water.

She was driving south on the Florida Turnpike at Southwest 254th Street.

Authorities said she was in the water for about 15 minutes before divers could take her out and perform CPR.

She was rushed to Jackson South Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The body of water is about 30 feet deep.

Authorities have not provided any update on the woman’s identity. An investigation is underway to determine what caused her to lose control and take the plunge.
