A woman has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against UFC superstar Conor McGregor for alleged bodily injury, her lawyer confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

Dave Coleman, the woman’s lawyer, said the lawsuit, relating to events believed to have taken place in 2018, was filed in the High Court in Dublin, Ireland on Monday. In addition, the woman’s mother also brought a lawsuit against McGregor, Coleman said, in a smaller complaint. The lawyer would not provide any further details on the case. According to the Independent, who first reported the lawsuit, an associate of McGregor is listed as a co-accused.

“The case is in court,” Coleman said.

This situation has been investigated by An Garda Síochána, the National Police Service of the Republic of Ireland, but no charges have been brought against McGregor and McGregor has denied any wrongdoing, reported l ‘Independent.

“After an exhaustive investigation by the Gardaí which, in addition to interviews with the complainant, included interviews with numerous sources, obtaining witness statements, reviewing closed-circuit footage and the cooperation of Conor McGregor, these allegations have been categorically rejected, ”McGregor’s spokesperson Karen Kessler said in a statement. “The plaintiff knows the facts contradict the claims in this lawsuit. Mr. McGregor will dispute any claims and is confident that justice will prevail.”

McGregor, one of the world’s most popular athletes, returns to the Octagon in a main fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi. This will be McGregor’s first fight since UFC 246 in January 2020. When questioned, Coleman said there was “no specific reason” for when the lawsuit was filed.

The New York Times reported in 2019 that McGregor had been the subject of two sexual assault investigations, although charges have not been laid and it is not clear whether those investigations are still open.

McGregor has had several run-ins with the law over the years. He was arrested in Brooklyn after throwing a cart on a UFC bus after a media day in 2018 and was fined 1,000 euros in Dublin court in 2019 for punching a man in the face in a commercial, an assault that was filmed.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani contributed to this report.
