A hot air balloon made a hard landing near Las Vegas on Thursday, seriously injuring a woman, police said.

The hot air balloon crashed at 9:30 am at Goodsprings, Nev., Las Vegas, police sergeant. Jeff Dean told Fox's local subsidiary, KVVU.

"We think the balloon had to come in for a landing," Dean said. "They were not very high."

Two people were ejected from the basket after landing the balloon. Nine passengers were on board at the time of the incident and a woman was seriously injured but should survive.

Other passengers were either treated at the scene or taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, KVVU reported.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
