Atlanta police say woman who was walking her dog in one of the city’s most popular parks was stabbed to death

ATLANTA – Authorities were looking for the person who fatally stabbed a woman walking her dog in one of Atlanta’s most popular parks on Wednesday.

Katherine Janness, 40, was found dead in Piedmont Park around 1 a.m. Wednesday, police said. His dog had also been killed.

Police released a photo of the woman crossing a rainbow-painted crosswalk near the park in the city’s Midtown on Wednesday. They did not immediately disclose any information about a possible suspect.

Police said Janness had been stabbed multiple times and Atlanta Deputy Police Chief Charles Hampton called the scene “horrific.”

Investigators were working to trace the victim’s footsteps, Hampton told WSB-TV on Wednesday morning.

Hampton said it was too early to determine the motive for the murder.

Investigators offer a reward of $ 10,000 for information regarding the murder.
