Women of childbearing age warned of the risks of certain dietary supplements

[ad_1]

If you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, you can check your medicine cabinet.

The Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning about an ingredient contained in the supplements because it could harm your unborn child.

According to the FDA, pregnant women and women of childbearing age should not take any dietary supplement containing vinpocetine.

The agency says that this can cause fetal damage or miscarriage.

It is marketed for energy, weight loss and brain functions and memory and can be sold alone or in combination with other ingredients.

It is often referred to as "periwinkle extract", "common periwinkle extract" or "vinca minor extract".
