Wondering when it’s your turn to get the COVID vaccine? CA launches notification website in Los Angeles and SD counties

California has launched a new pilot website that lets residents know when it’s their turn to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The site, called My Turn, allows users to schedule vaccination appointments as well as sign up to be notified by text or email when they become eligible, if they are not already. Currently, the feature is only available to healthcare workers and people 65 and older in Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

Officials aim to make it available statewide by early February.

In a Monday afternoon press conference, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the tool was more than just a notification or reservation system with state clinics, as other states have done. .

“It allows vendors to automatically share all of this data, not only with the state, but ultimately allows us to quickly share that data with the federal government,” Newsom said.

This will eliminate unnecessary paperwork and old systems that many clinics and vaccine vendors struggle with, he said.

It will also allow them to enter more immediate data on the number of vaccines that have been administered, which he says will “fundamentally solve” a delay in reporting that can make it appear that fewer vaccines have been administered.

“It’s as good as the clinics and the provider network are good. It becomes more and more robust as more and more people log on … As more and more clinics sign up, more and more opportunities arise, more and more capacities are available, at least on this platform compared to other mechanisms and platforms to know when it’s your turn, ”said the governor.
