Woodstock 50, a new event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1969 historic music festival, is scheduled to take place from August 16 to 18 on the Watkins Glen International Speedway, in upstate New York State. The tickets were to go on sale on April 22, but as Display panel and Variety report, the date of sale has been postponed, without the delay being precisely explained. A possible hiccup, however, is that as of Friday, April 19, the organizers of the Woodstock 50 still have to get a mass collection permit from the New York State Department of Health, Pitchfork could confirm.
According to Tim O 'Hearn, Schuyler County Administrator (which includes the village of Watkins Glen), Watkins Glen International filed a mass collection permit application with the DOH on Monday, April 15th. "The Ministry of Health is currently reviewing whether a conditional permit can be issued to allow the sale of tickets," he told Pitchfork. "At this point, no date of sale is fixed."
Erin Silk, DOH spokesman in the state of New York, told the Watkins Glen-area newspaper Review & Express In March, a conditional permit would permit the sale of tickets during the full licensing review and approval process. Without a permit or conditional permit in place, tickets can not be sold.
On April 15, Silk made the following statement to Pitchfork: "The ministry continues to work closely with the applicant and event promoters to ensure that all conditions are met for a rally permit. in bulk before the start of ticket sales. " a permit should be issued.
Michael Lang, one of the organizers of the original festival, is the promoter of Woodstock 50. He is co-owner of Woodstock Ventures, which holds the festival's original brand. In a statement to Display panelLang said that Woodstock 50 would not be canceled, calling "fears" fears of cancellation. Pitchfork contacted the Woodstock 50 representatives for additional comments.
Earlier this month, the Black Keys pulled out of Woodstock 50 because of a "time conflict". Other artists announced at the festival include JAY-Z, Dead & Company, Killers, Run the Jewels, Raconteurs, etc.
