World of Warcraft Classic gets release date, beta test

Blizzard Entertainment officially announced Tuesday that the World of Warcraft Classic will be launched in August.

WoW Classic is a "vanilla" version of the once popular MMORPG, launched on August 27th. Players will be able to play version 1.12 of the game known as "Drums of War". Before the broadcast of the game, there will be beta tests and resistance tests.

As has seen the popular MMORPG millions of players leave Over the years, WoW fans have started to create their own private servers offering the "classic" WoW experience that did not include any of the many extensions or updates during the game's lifetime.

In April 2016, Blizzard started closing classic WoW servers not allowed to the consternation of the fans. The company said the closure was intended to "protect against infringement of intellectual property".

It was in November 2017 when Blizzard announced the release of its own version of the "vanilla" experiment called WoW Classic.

In addition to revealing the release date of WoW Classic, Blizzard has also presented plans for a beta test and a test of resistance of the game. Players who accept the tests on their account manager page and who have an active subscription will randomly selected for the beta version from May 15th. Then, the developer will undergo three resistance tests that players can connect to play the game for a short period of time on the following dates:

• Resistance test 1: 22-23 May
• Resistance test 2: 19 to 20 June
• Resistance test 3: 18-19 July

Players who want to secure their name for WoW Classic can create their character from August 13th. After the release of the game, Blizzard will add original content to WoW in the order of its original release date.
